Kitchen sink not draining?

Kitchen drains clog over time. They run slower and slower as greases, soaps, fats and detergents build up on the inner walls of the pipes and eventually cause blockage. Our service technician, who specializes in kitchen drain lines, will use a rotary sink machine to cut through the clog and remove all debris.

Shower drain backed up?

Tub and Shower drains present their own challenge. As the blockage is usually due to hair and soap buildup in the trap and drainpipe. When you're taking a shower you should never see standing water in the stall or tub. Properly functioning drains should carry the water away almost instantly. If water covers the shower floor and your feet - you have a clogged shower drain starting to happen. Our service technician can clear your drain and even show you how to prevent future tub and shower blockages.

Need a sink cleared?

Bathroom sink drains may become clogged with hair, toothpaste, soap and grime. Many of these blockages are easily preventable. Once our service technician gets your drained cleared he will show you the best ways to prevent the drains from backing up again.

Backed up Toilet? Toilet Stoppage

Toilets are sometimes overwhelmed with toilet paper and even the occasional kid's toy. Our service technician will auger the toilet and scope the inner trap way to ensure no further obstructions. We have micro-cameras that fit right into the toilet passage way enabling us to view inside of the toilet without the need to pull it.

Water won't do down the floor drain or sink?

Floor drains are common in basements, laundry rooms, restaurants, and garages. They may also be found on patios and driveways as well as older bathrooms. These drains are equipped with a trap that should be kept filled with water to prevent odors and sewer gas from escaping. It’s best to test these exterior drains just prior to the fall season. Making sure they are aren't clogged and are ready to carry away water and prevent any possible flooding during the rainy season. Dirt and debris can clog floor drains but we can open them and quickly restore them to drain properly.

Roof Drains holding water?

Downspout drains help to channel water from roof gutters away from your home. Many downspouts are connected to the city's storm sewer system via underground pipes which can become clogged with leaves and debris and cause a backup. Like with exterior floor drains: these drains are best checked prior to the rainy season. Preferably during and throughout the fall season, as this is when they have the highest potential of becoming clogged. You want to make certain the drains operate without any back logging. If yours do - give us a call and we will be happy to assist in cleaning them out.

Has your Laundry Drain Stopped Working?

Laundry drain stoppages are the least common type of blockage. Usually, they only become visible due to their connection to the kitchen drain line. Another reason for laundry stoppages is the change in plumbing code that now mandates laundry drain pipes be of 2in diameter as opposed to 1-1/2in piping that was common place in homes pre- 1980's

Exterior Area Drains and Pool Drains

Exterior area drains are the most overlooked drains on a property. Nobody seems to pay any attention to them until they are not draining, and the water starts making its way into a building or swimming pool. Most often they are full of dirt and leafs.

Tree Root Stoppages

Tree roots make their way into breached drain and sewer pipes due to the pipe condition - not because they love to find random underground pipes to cause damage to. It’s extremely rare that a tree causes damage to a sewer or drain line. Usually it’s a case whereas the sewer or drain line isn't sealed properly and it begins to leach water out - attracting the roots into the sewer or drain pipe. Once the roots find the source of water and nutrients (human waste is akin to fertilizer) they need to survive and thrive - its game over. The problem will only continue to worsen as time goes by. The stoppage will start off occurring every few years, then every few months, and on until the roots have caused so much damage to the actual pipe - that it can no longer be cleared.

Grease Stoppages

Grease stoppages are best dealt with utilizing the hydro jetting method as opposed to simple rotary cabling. A drain machine will merely create a passage way (clear a small opening allowing water to pass). Whereas hydro jetting will scour and flush out all of the build-up found within the line.

Main Sewer Line Back Ups

Main sewer lines are the largest drains in a home. All other household drains lead to the main sewer line. The main sewer runs underground from the house and connects to a city sewer line or a septic tank. Your main sewer line can become clogged from the debris those other household drains wash into it or by tree roots that penetrate pipe joints from surrounding soil.

If the main sewer line clogs the toilets and drains throughout your house will begin to backup. This is usually a very stressful situation for homeowners and it can happen at any time of the day or night. If you notice a gurgling sound in any drain when utilizing another drain (this is a tell tale sign the main line is backing up). We recommend you shut off the water to the property and immediately call us as to prevent the possibility of interior sewage or gray water damage. We quickly respond and get your main sewer line back in good working condition.

We also perform hydro jetting and trenchless sewehydro jetting and trenchless sewer repair/replacement services for those lines that have seen better days.

Find problems before you dig!

Drain back-ups, gurgling and other draining problems are often an indication of stoppage in the sewer line. This can be a relatively minor issue or a very big problem—and until recently, there was no sure way of determining the cause without expensive, destructive excavation of the pipes.

What causes a blockage?

Sewer line backups can have many causes. One source is tree roots in the line. Sometimes the pipes may have settled, been crushed, punctured or broken, or even become disjointed. In other instances, construction debris or improper installation can cause a backup.

Avoid digging with a video sewer inspection.

Today, plumbers can use a video sewer inspection to diagnose the cause of a sewer line blockage. A flexible fiber optic video camera is pushed through your sewer line, in most cases using your cleanout access, and your video sewer inspection can even be recorded. This way you and your plumber can review and determine the best way to correct the problem.

If all you need is a quick sewer cleaning, consider having an inspection after the repair to make sure there are no other problems that need to be addressed further down the line.

Video Sewer Inspections can pinpoint problems such as:

  • Broken, cracked or collapsed pipes
  • Offset pipe - sewer pipes have become misaligned due to shifting soil, settling
  • Blockage - grease buildup or a foreign object is prohibiting proper flow and/or cleaning of the line.
  • Corrosion - the pipe has deteriorated and/or broken, causing collapses in the line and restricting flow.
  • Bellied pipe – sunken pipe due to ground or soil conditions, creating a valley that collects paper and waste.
  • Leaking joints - the seals between pipes have broken, allowing water to escape into the area surrounding the pipe.
  • Root infiltration - tree or shrub roots have invaded the sewer line, preventing normal cleaning and/or have damaged the line.
  • Off-grade pipe — existing pipes are constructed of substandard material that may have deteriorated or corroded.

Electronic sewer locator

If a problem is uncovered during the video sewer inspection, we can expertly locate the problem, saving you time and money from digging in the wrong location.

Get Rid of Foul Sewer Smells!!!

A common problem found in retail shopping centers is foul odors. This is very common in multi-use shopping centers whereas, there is a mixture of use and roof top HVAC systems.

We have dealt with several complaints of sewer smells whenever the AC system is turned on, or the building has had no air movement (overnight).

What is actually happening? The sewer exhaust being vented out into the atmosphere is being sucked back into the building via the AC fresh air intake. This tends to occur whenever the roof is of the parapet style.

What happens is that the sewer vents are lower than the parapet walls and the gases linger in what becomes a bowl on top of the roof. As the HVAC system is turned on the foul sewer odors are sucked back into the building causing it to stink!

What's the solution to get rid of the sewer smells? Carbon filter vent attachments. The carbon filled vent adapters filter the sewer gases without restricting the natural venting process. Thereby, eliminating odor without hindering the waste system.
