Toilet repair service. We work on all makes and models Kohler, American Standard, Gerber, Eljer, Crane, Case, Western, Pro Max and more.
Why do toilets leak so often? There tends to be more opportuniy for leaks with the various components found in a toilet (rubber flapper, toilet fill valve, Douglas flush valve, and toilet handles)
What causes toilet leaks? Usually we can trace back a toilet leak to either high water pressure or hard water (high concentration of calcium and mineral deposits found in the water). Sometimes, it just comes down to excessive wear and tear of the internal components.
How can I tell if I have a leaky toilet? One surefire way to tell is by placing some food coloring into the toilet tank. If within minutes the food coloring makes its way into the actual toilet bowl - you have a leak. Often times you will be able to hear the sound of running water whether it be consistent or sporadic determines how bad of a leak you have.
Can I fix the toilet leak by myself? Yes, a great way to do so is by taking a quick photo of your toilet (to include the make - often found just above the toilet seat when looking down at the toilet). With photo in hand run on down to your local hardware store and have them assist you in purchasing the right parts. Please try to avoid the universal toilet repair kits and stick with purchasing the most exact parts as possible. Note: some of the higher end toilets can't be repaired with the use of universal parts. They require OEM - exact make and model parts to achieve a proper repair.
What is a good toilet to purchase for my home? Most manufacturers carry a line of toilets ranging from their economic model to their elite models and several grades in between. I would suggest to you that your avoid any toilets that cost less then $150.00. Sure we all like to save a little money but, with the heavy use our toilets endure - you will want to purchase a better toilet or prepare to have a plunger next to the cheap model.
